san diego family photographs | fifty-two on friday {50} tis the season

For us, ’tis the season’ … always means a trip to see the Grinch at the Old Globe in Balboa Park.    Last weekend was our fourth annual trip to see one of our favorite shows.  I remember the first year like it was yesterday.  Brooks sat in awe and wonder the entire show.  I cried watching his sweet face when the show was over.  This year, we enjoyed the show, but it may have been our last trip.

Last Sunday, when the show was over, Brooks said to me in a tone that sounded much like my own when I’m a tad irritated …

‘When are they going to change the show.  I’ve seen it 4 times and it’s always the same.’

Yeah … well, that’s the show.  It’s not going to change.  The magic is still there for me and I know he loved it.  We’ll just have to see about next year.  😉

This year we met up with the Stanleys.  The kiddos had fun getting out a bit of energy before the show!

Christina - So sad when the kids get too old for the cutesy stuff 🙁 I felt the same way when my oldest said the Christmas parade was boring.

Melanie - I absolutely love that picture of the Grinch peeking over the top of the building! It makes me sad when my girls have started to outgrow some of our traditions. This year especially it’s been noticeable and I’ve really tried hard to be in the moment and enjoy the things they haven’t outgrown.
