san diego child photographer | fifty-two on friday {5} shoes

Friday is here and we’re on to week 5 of fifty-two on Friday.

19 other photographers from The Bloom Forum and I have joined together to challenge each other on a theme every week.  Each one of us will link to one other photographer’s unique vision. Some of our themes … self portrait,  B & W ,  joy,  and simple.

As soon as I saw this theme, I knew exactly what I wanted to document.  Another first!

When we came back from Christmas break, Brooks’ teacher asked him to practice tying his shoes at least two times a day.  Well, you know what that means … as we are rushing out the door in the morning Brooks would INSIST that we slow down to allow him to tie his shoes himself.  Many mornings I suggested he let me do it, but each time he said it was his job and he needed to learn.  I practiced deep breathing while he practiced tying his shoes.

I admired his determination and within a few short weeks … he could do it!

I learned a lesson with this, too… slow down and remember that he only gets do these ‘firsts’ once.

I love this smile of success!  He makes me swoon!
