After such a busy day yesterday, Brooks fell asleep before his head hit the pillow at 6:00 pm. It was so nice to have a quiet evening, but I knew he’d be up extra early. I was right …at 5:30 am, he popped right out of bed with a cheery ‘good morning, mommy’! We decided to have a quick breakfast and head out the door for a fun shoot. I love that he’s always up for a shoot these days.
Brooks has always been a natural in the water. Ever since he was 5 months old, he’s been a little fish … so happy to swim and play. Last spring he took a series of lessons, but he just wasn’t ready to take breaths on his own. This summer I knew he was ready, but I didn’t want to pay for lessons. I wanted him to swim like a swimmer … have a nice stroke, take breaths and swim wherever he wanted to in the pool. So we made a deal … swim like a swimmer and we will use the money from swim lessons for Disneyland passes. He thought it was a brilliant idea!

And what’s a pool shot without everyone’s favorite handstand (I need to get an underwater camera for the tea parties)!

This week, I had the pleasure of my first senior shoot with Miss L. As you can see, she is drop dead gorgeous and is even more beautiful on the inside. We broke up the shoot into two locations … first we spent a fun evening at Poway Park and the next morning we went over to La Jolla for some beach shots. Hope you like them!!! Thanks so much!!! We really did laugh a lot and have so much fun with this. She was a great sport and tried all the poses … even ones we thought might be a bit goofy (which turned out to be our favorites)! I think she totally spoiled me with her ease and beauty!

There’s nothing like a good old-fashion mud pie! I don’t think a day has gone by this summer that Brooks wasn’t out back making very special mud pies… I believe it’s his specialty! This morning he wanted to teach me how to make such a delicious treat. I’m so glad I joined him… these make me laugh!

I remember being a kid and going to my brother’s baseball games. My sister, brother and I would hang around, play games and of course hit the snack shack. Last night we enjoyed a perfect Santa Barbara evening while watching Tanner’s All Star baseball team. While the grown ups watched the game, the kids played … red light – green light, races, leap frog, ring around the rosie and more. They don’t know it yet, but they’re creating a lifetime of wonderful memories. I had a great time watching them and capturing a bit of their fun!

These are adorable. Are you using the 85mm?
Yes… it’s the 85 mm. I keep it on my camera as long as I’m in an open space. It helps me to be less obtrusive with Brooks and his cousins. I don’t think I’ve used anything else since I’ve been in SB. I just love f/1.2…
When I am in a more confined space, I’ll use the 50 mm. Each week I keep looking at the 35 mm… Adorama finally got some in stock.
