The first thing that came to mind when I heard the theme sky was our very own Sky… Brooks’ favorite cousin. She was just here last weekend as a surprise to Brooks, but we ended up being so busy I didn’t get the camera out.
Last Friday night I had a rescheduled session at the beach (the first date was rained out) and I crossed my fingers all week that we would have sunshine. I was talking to my friend Maureen on my way to the beach and I think she just may have wanted to slap me when I went on and on and on when I saw all the sunshine at the beach. Come on … it is the middle of November and the beach was 70 degrees with gorgeous clouds (we always have a solid blue sky around here) and a super low tide. On top of it all, I was the only photographer there. Perfection.
As I waited for my clients, I took a few images for our theme today and as much as I loved a little quiet time at the beach, I was sooooo sad that Brooks wasn’t with me! :(

The water looked just like a mirror … a perfect reflection.

And a quick little snap of my new glasses. My eyes have been rapidly going downhill so I finally went in and got my first pair of glasses. I’d love any tips you have for shooting with them on. It’s a little tricky.

Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. After a short day at school filled with an outing and a party, we are off for all of next week! So thankful!!

beautiful images! and before I had laser eye surgery, I wore glasses. I used a little thing I could attach to my viewfinder that really helped block the light out and give me a better idea of the image. I cna’t remember what it was called, but it’s rubber and pops out

Ever since Brooks was one, we marked his height along a strip of wall in the living room. We push those heels to the wall, stand up straight and do our best to get the measurement. We do it on his half birthday. He has spent so much time looking over that strip of wall and asking questions about when he grew the most and what was he doing at each milestone. We both love that wall.
Well, this summer we had a handyman over to do some touch up work with paint and other things that needed a little fixing up. He did such wonderful work! After he left, I loved looking around at the fresh coat of paint covering the little nicks and scrapes that come when a little boy rides his trucks and shopping basket into the walls and doors. That night Brooks came to me and said the numbers were all gone. I had no idea what he was talking about. So he grabbed my hand and showed me.
I cried. Like a baby.
It was gone. All of the little lines and dates and numbers. I have lost all of my markings to show just how tall he was with he was little until now … so big!
I had the measurements for the last couple dates so we filled those in. When we go in for his 7 year old appointment, I will get the rest of the numbers I need to fill in the rest.
From little to big … those lines meant so much to me. I can’t wait until it’s complete again.
Here’s Brooks helping with the assignment by measuring himself. Seriously … the book was by chance. We only have one board book downstairs and this is it. Seriously.
We had to shoot this on the only morning we had a few extra minutes this week. 7:15 am is not the best time for gorgeous light in my house … really, no time is a good time for gorgeous light, but I’m loving how my camera handles 6400 ISO. SWOON!
