2009 Christmas card!

One of our traditions on Thanksgiving day is to take a walk up to our favorite hill … Elings Park … it overlooks the ocean on one side and the city of Santa Barbara on the other. B.L.I.S.S. This is one of Brooks’ favorite places to be! Before dinner was ready, we went for our walk with all of the kiddos … I brought along my camera ‘just in case’. When I asked Brooks if he wanted to take some pictures, he politely answered ‘no thanks’. I still had nothing to put in a Christmas card so I offered the big bribe … hot tamales! He’s a sucker for hot tamales! All he gave me was 5 minutes and he earned his prize box of hot cinnamon goodness. I love these captures because they truly show who he is right now… sticks and all!

I had picked out a tri-fold template last summer and couldn’t be happier with how it went with the images! I picked my favorite for the full panel center image…4th one down … that’s my boy!

One of my favorite December traditions is a trip to Balboa Park to see the Grinch! This year, I was on the computer ordering our tickets the first morning they were released … we had fabulous seats! Brooks’ good buddy Trevor and his mom joined us and also sitting close by were the Sullivans.

Brooks and I arrived a little early and enjoyed a bit of sun as we walked around the park. After the show, we all hit City Deli for such a yummy lunch!

Thank you to the Douds and the Sullivans for making this December tradition even more special!

On Sunday we had our annual visit with Santa! Brooks and his buddies have been coming to see this Santa ever since he was one month old! He always looks forward to sharing his wish list with Santa and playing with good friends. His list doesn’t change much from year to year… last year it was super heros and knights and this year star wars and knights! Done!!!

Yes… I know there are too many, but poor Brooks has been a bit neglected on the blog. Also, I was playing around with new processing on this set using my new florabella actions. :)

I love photographing this family! Starting with ms. p, can you get over those gorgeous eyes and sweet smile?! Then there’s mr. c (one of Brooks’ best buddies), with the perfect smile and loads of giggles. Mom and Dad are always ready to try anything and come loaded with fun props to put the perfect touch on the images!

One of my favorite Halloween traditions is a trip to Disneyland to see the fun decorations, get really spooked on Space Mountain, and see all the villains. In October, Disneyland is taken over by the villains…they were great! This year we were joined by a few of Brooks’ good buddies for an overnight trip to our favorite spot in the world. They helped to make the visit extra special!

Veronika settled the boys in with a couple bedtime stories. They loved the experience of sleeping all together in their sleeping bags. We squeezed all 7 of us into our room!

First ride of the morning … we walked right onto Nemo! I love this shot of Colie!!!

p.s. I left the 5D at home and brought the rebel with me… boy what a difference between the two.

san diego high school senior | zach {class of 2010}

I’ve know this handsome senior since he was in preschool. When he was a first grader, he was in the class right next door to mine… I’m still trying to track down a couple pictures of him from back in the day!

Zach was up for anything, especially when I mentioned that he should hit up his mom for some type of reward for all of his great cooperation. Brooks made sure he gave a ‘picture treat’ (fruit roll up) to Zach for all of his hard work. Thanks for the great morning!

San Diego is an amazing place to be a photographer! Can you get over this gorgeous night?!

This first one is a quick shot from last night before the Petersons got to the beach. My amazing assistant Brooks was delighted to go to the beach for the shoot last night…to him that means swim suit and beach toys! It wasn’t all play and no work for my little man, he brought out the best smiles from the Petersons, chased the seagulls away from the treats and danced around doing all sorts of crazy things! He also gave little L a few tips on how to really jump high! I adore my assistant and owe all of this to him!

I can’t wait to post this session … I got teared up just looking at the images when I downloaded them. BEAUTIFUL LOVE!!!

I was totally looking forward to meeting up with the beautiful York family for their session at the beach last weekend. When they first arrived, I was so excited … LOVED the outfits they chose! DARLING!!! We enjoyed a cool overcast morning with lots of laughs and smiles from little E and T. Thanks for such a fun morning! I have so many beautiful captures of the family, soooo hard to narrow the picks down.

October has finally arrived and brought with it a little fall weather! It’s been wonderful to feel a chill in the air in the mornings and evenings. Our first celebration of fall is a trip to Bates Nut Farm to pick the perfect pumpkins! Little A joined us on our adventure this year and we had so much fun climbing through the corn stalks, jumping off GIANT pumpkins, exploring the fields, and (a new one for us) pumpkin bowling. Check out a few captures from our favorite fall ritual.

I played a bit with TRA’s Dirty Textures on some of these. LOVE how easy and fast it is to apply my textures.
