What August Looks Like | 2014
The images I selected for this month’s post make me smile so much. The memories behind each set is filled with lots of laughter, joy and pride!
This first set cracks me up! You and Skyler sat down one day this summer and tried out Bean Boozled. I laughed so hard at you two, I may have peed my pants, just a little. The video we have to go along with this is even better than the still images. Priceless laughter!
We had World Cup fever all summer and loved cheering on the USA with Sky and the rest of the family!
Beach days with the family! There’s nothing better! The big boys finally had some time to spend with you and Sky on your surfboard. You both got up and couldn’t have been more thrilled!
Soccer. Soccer. And more soccer. Such a huge part of our summer and I wouldn’t have it any other way! This tournament was even more special because you got to play forward for the first time and scored a goal! So thrilling!! Plus after being a finalist in 5 out of 6 tournaments, your team finally one this tournament!
Coach Scott didn’t think you were all celebrating quite right, so he helped you out!
Awww. The first day of 4th grade. You’re not too thrilled with 4th grade so far. We both adore your teacher, but unfortunately there are kiddos in your class that make it difficult for you (and others) to focus and enjoy the class. Your sweet teacher has to work extra hard and I’m sure it’s taking a toll on her. I’m praying that things get better and that there is a bigger lesson in this year for you (and me).
Yes! That’s rain on the first day of school … in San Diego!!! So strange!
I’ll wrap up this note with images from the Pacific Coast Championship Triathlon in Newport. You totally rocked this race. I tried and tried to get you to back out of the race, but you had your heart set on racing. I really didn’t think you were prepared for the bike portion because you just haven’t had time to train.
The swim portion was canceled for the kiddos because the surf was HUGE! The kids had a beach start and then took off up this steep, long hill! You totally tore it up!
Then you surprised the heck out of me when you rounded the corner on the bike (after a 6 mile ride). There were 5 kids ahead of you, but they all had lightweight, road race bikes. You had to work twice as hard on your mountain bike, but you did it!
You wrapped up the mile run with a killer split and a strong finish! Faster runner on the course!
Congratulations on your determination and perseverance! You always make me proud! I love to watch you compete!
Love you to the moon and back!
